Wiltshire Historic Buildings Trust is happy to partner with an initiative project-managed and instigated by local resident Sylvia Clayden, called the Living Churches Project, centred around the rural churches of the Vale of Pewsey. This project will create a series of information boards outside the historic churches of the vale, detailing and celebrating their history and architecture, their roles within their communities, and their roles as peaceful places of worship and spiritual reflection.
The aim is to put the churches back at the heart of the communities they serve, and to bring visitors to the churches. Walking routes between the churches, accessible via QR codes on the boards, will encourage visitors and pilgrims to experience the Living Churches along the Pewsey Vale.
It is a community project with strong involvement from the parishes, local schools and stakeholders. WHBT’s role within the project will include fundraising, encouraging community engagement, and supporting the historical and architectural information of each board to ensure that these fascinating and beautiful buildings are rightly admired and loved.
