These are the latest set of images from Avon House, sat on the edge of the Kennet and Avon Canal on Lower Wharf, Devizes. Having previously been in discussions with WHBT about our Trust purchasing the house, which shared a wall with Canal Forge (owned by WHBT), the developer chose to demolish the house and use the site to build up to 100 new homes.
Canal Forge was recently the subject of a failed funding application by WHBT, to convert the building into our offices. Rather than being revitalised into a part of Devizes’ new heritage quarter, backing directly onto the Assizes Wiltshire Museum site, opening 2030, Lower Wharf now sits dormant. We await further developments with the site, and will update supporters as the situation progresses.
