New Sails Installed at Wilton Windmill with WHBT Help

WHBT provided evidence of the suitability of laminated stocks in the re-fitting, and attended meetings and negotiations with conservation officers to make the case for them in this project. The new sails were raised over the course of last week and a visit was made by our Cambridge University placements on 20th August to see the final stages. It is hoped that these new sails will function more efficiently, allowing for more opportunities to mill flour, which Wilton has been doing since the original restoration brought it to working order by 1976. The windmill will be open this bank holiday, so be sure to visit if you get the chance!
